Congratulations to Talawanda’s girls cross country team for winning the Hamilton Invitational on Tuesday, Sept. 20. Maddy Iden led the Braves with a strong race on the tough course to finish in the runner-up position. She was followed by Libby Farmer in 3rd, Ashley Baxter – 6th, Jazz Bennett – 7th, and Nina Stahr in 13th. The Braves beat Taylor by 2 points. Zoe Moore and Heather Kuckuck also ran strong races.
The boys earned the runner-up trophy for their efforts as they fell four points short of Taylor. David Kraushar led the Braves with a new personal best time of 17:22 on the 5K course to finish in fourth place. Connor Schlade was close behind in 6th and Daniel Sawdai was 8th in a new personal record also. Rounding out the scoring for the Braves were Josh Huddleston (15th) and Johnny Faler (16th). Kyle Tomoyasu and Quinn Kissell were close behind in 17th and 18th. James Bekett also ran a new personal record.
The Braves will enjoy some time off as they prepare for the SWOC and District Meets at the end of the season.
